Two hundred Tarlac State University employees benefited from the first University Community Assistance Program, featuring a one-stop venue for free essential government services was held today (June 19) at the TSU Gymnasium.
The initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of TSU, through the Non-Academic Staff Association, in partnership with the office of Hon. Maria Cristina Angeles, Tarlac Second District representative and member of the TSU Board of Regents, representing the office of Rep. Jude A. Acidre, chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education.
In a message, University President Jasper Jay N. Mendoza thanked Hon. Angeles for her continued support of the university. Likewise, Hon. Angeles expressed her gratitude to the university for its partnership in this endeavor.
Among the services offered were free medical consultations, basic laboratory examinations, medications, legal consultations, Philippine Statistics Authority services, reading eyeglasses, newborn kits for qualified beneficiaries, and noodle packs.
“We are grateful that everyone is gathering their support and help for our constituents and the TSU community, especially our doctors from the province and other government agencies,” Tarlac City 2nd District Board Member Hon. Arron Villaflor said in an interview with the Office of Public Affairs.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Mr. Jowy Cunanan, a Motorpool Unit staff, thanked TSU for the free eyeglasses and noodle packs.
“Kahit maliit na bagay, malaking tulong na itong salamin sa akin. Ang iba pang mga serbisyo ay malaki rin ang maitutulong sa mga kasamahan ko, tulad ng pagpapasuri sa kanilang kalusugan para malaman din nila kung may mga sakit sila,” Mr. Cunanan said.
The program is part of TSU’s efforts to strengthen community engagement, improve access to public services, and reinforce its role as an active partner in local development under the university's DALAN Framework.
Joining Pres. Mendoza are Vice President for Administration Dr. Marlon V. Gamido, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Brendalyn A. Manzano, and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation Dr. Nino B. Corpuz.
