Marinduque State College (MSC) visited Tarlac State University for a benchmarking activity focused on the best practices of the newly created College of Industrial Technology (CIT) and the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA) earlier today (June 29) at the TSU Main AVR.
The 19 MSC delegates, led by Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Institutional Quality Assurance Director Asst. Prof. Raoul J. Magcamit, learned about TSU's linkages, research, extension services, and quality assurance.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg welcomed the group and hoped that MSC and TSU would learn from the said activity.
"Thank you very much po in visiting our humble university. And accordingly, if the university will be visited as a part of their benchmarking, that would mean there is development…We believe here at TSU – and I think this is also yours, that benchmarking is also a two-way process… Where you will be learning out of our best practices, and we will be learning as well," VP Macaraeg.
Moreover, CIT Dean Engr. Larry A. Suboc and CIT faculty Prof. Arnel A. Punla answered the group's queries and gave their insights on increasing linkages, noting that online communication could provide unlimited growth opportunities.
Despite being a newly created college, CIT's programs are flagship courses of TSU. Its roots trace back to the university's thrust as a technological and technical collegiate institution in Tarlac in 1959 as Tarlac School of Arts and Trades and in 1965 as Tarlac College of Technology.
On the other hand, OQA Director Dr. Niño B. Corpuz shared the university's quality assurance framework and advised the visiting state college on accreditation matters. (jagp/jlmm-OPA)
