Themed "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth," Tarlac State University formally opened its 2023 ASEAN Week celebration earlier this morning (September 26) at the CASS Theater Room, Main Campus.
The week-long activity spearheaded by the Office of International Affairs and Linkages (OIAL) aims to foster a deeper understanding of the multifaceted cultures, traditions, and histories of Southeast Asian nations.
"Through the ASEAN Week celebration, we impart to our students the significance of international collaboration and cooperation, offering them a valuable lesson in the importance of working together on a global scale," OIAL Director Dr. Maria Vanesa P. Arador said in her welcome remarks.
TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco encouraged the TSU community to participate, display, and foster their sense of belonging to a larger regional community that advocates peace and cooperation.
"Let us take pleasure and contribute to the growth, campus unity, and collaboration within our significant community," Pres. Velasco said.
Activities that were launched during the opening ceremony include the presentation of the ASEAN publication materials designed by different university offices, performances from the TSU Chorale and Performing Arts Dance Troupe, and the ASEAN costume competition, where various offices and colleges presented their unique ASEAN-inspired costumes.
The week-long celebration will be held from September 26-29, 2023, with the awarding of certificates and prizes for event winners and implementors on the last day. (jlmm-OPA)
