Representatives from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) conducted their final onsite inspection at Tarlac State University this morning (December 7) for the historical marker pedestal to commemorate the Philippines' 125th independence and nationhood.
According to NHCP's Ar. Donking Roque, they adorned the pedestal with embellishments made of bronze in preparation for the unveiling.
The 1.8-meter marker pedestal stands in front of the TSU Administration Building on the Main Campus. It is inspired by the map pin symbol (indicating the location) and the Philippine flag.
The marker bears significance to the university since the Aguinaldo Hall (College of Engineering building) once served as the Casa Real de Tarlac during President Emilio Aguinaldo's administration.
Tarlac was the Philippines' last revolutionary capital, and the marker that will be unveiled on June 21, 2024 indicates the province as one of the seven capitals in the first Philippine Republic that helped the country gain independence.
The NHCP inspection team is composed of Engr. Leonidas Ongkingco, Mr. Jim Franklin Kalaw, Engr. Rachelle Loreto, Ms. Osmelia Mangaoil, and Ar. Roque. (jlmm-OPA)
