Once again, the University of Southern Mindanao benchmarked Tarlac State University, particularly the Office of Management and Information System (OMIS), on Thursday (July 13) at the Main Campus.
The visit tackled the university's information technology policy, Cisco partners, several information systems developed, and how College of Computer Studies students are equipped with the right program and hardware for their activities.
OMIS Director Dr. Marlon V. Gamido discussed the Wi-Fi modernization plan for the TSU campuses, the feature of the enrollment system, and the CISCO fees.
Dr. Gamido also showcased the university's accomplishments under its Roadmap E or ICT Development Plan and the award-winning programs developed by the OMIS, which are part of TSU's best practices, such as the Institutional Performance Information Management System (IPIMS) and Automated Faculty Evaluation System (AFES).
USM delegates sought the advice of Dr. Gamido about the necessary techniques in developing software that can be accessible to their students and employees, like TSU's project monitoring system for extension projects, evaluation and reporting system, online Personal Data Sheet, TSU ISSF System, online student election, and the online leave application.
Moreover, Dr. Gamido inspired the visiting university with the history of their office, which he described as a "repair shop" in 2005, up to how they further developed it into a more conducive office and workstation.
He also shared that he came up with the IT policy a year after his designation as OMIS director in 2005, which he noted as important material for the university.
Dr. Heidilyn V. Gamido, former office director, also joined the discussion, especially on using QR codes for contact tracing during the pandemic.
OMIS unit heads were also present to support the exchange of information between TSU and USM. (jlmm-OPA)
