Two of Tarlac State University's graduate programs, Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino and Early Childhood Education, both from the College of Education (COEd), received their Level III Re-Accreditation certificates from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on Thursday afternoon (August 31), at the TSU Hotel Function Room in Lucinda Campus.
The Office of Quality Assurance, headed by Dr. Nino B. Corpuz, spearheaded the awarding ceremony, where Dr. Corpuz discussed the two programs' accreditation results and the accreditors' recommendations.
Based on the summary of ratings, the MAEd ECE program scored a perfect 5.0 in instruction. The program garnered 3.50, 4.0, and 3.75 in research, faculty development, and linkages, respectively, resulting in a 4.06 grand mean.
On the other hand, MAEd Filipino obtained a grand mean of 4.0. All four areas, consisting of instruction, research, faculty development, and linkages, scored 4.0 ratings.
In a welcome message through Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco recognized the efforts and determination of the college.
Likewise, he expressed his gratitude towards COEd Dean Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza, as well as to the chairpersons of the accredited programs and the college's local accreditation task force.
Pres. Velasco also shared the importance of accreditations to the university to uphold excellence and quality standards towards improving the university's programs.
"Let us work together to promote a culture of quality and performance through recognition and accreditation... The result of the AACCUP will help us advance to achieve our vision to be a globally competitive university recognized for excellence in sciences and emerging technologies," Pres. Velasco added.
Meanwhile, VP Macaraeg congratulated the people behind the re-accreditation of the two programs for their collaborative efforts.
"With your dedication, with your commitment to serve, where Tarlac State University is, it's because of everyone's effort," VP Macaraeg said.
VP Macaraeg, Dr. Corpuz, and Dr. Mendoza awarded certificates of commendation to the faculty members of COEd.
Dr. Mendoza commended the COEd faculty members for their hard work, dedication, and love for the college.
"Quality assurance is embedded in our system already. Every day is an accreditation day," Dr. Mendoza added.
The validity of the accreditation for the two programs is effective for four years, from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2027. Afterward, the programs will be subjected to Level IV accreditation, the highest level to be conferred to a curricular program.
The MAEd Filipino and ECE underwent the Level III accreditation survey visit last April 27-28, 2023, and May 17-29, 2023. (jlmm-OPA)
